Are you ready for DVS 2020?
From the 26th of October 2020 all HGV’s over 12 Tonnes operating in the Greater London Area will require a DVS safety permit.
Star ratings will be measured by Direct View through the windows of the HGV Cab. This is to ensure that deaths and serious injuries on roads within London are eliminated; by lowering the level of risk to vulnerable road users such as Motorcyclists, people walking and cyclists near the vehicle.
By the 26th of October 2020 a 1 Star ranking is the minimum ranking for your HGV to operate within London, and a 5 star Ranking being considered Excellent.
This requirement will rise in 2024 to a minimum of a 3 rate ranking.
Failure to meet these DVS star ratings, you will be required to make your vehicle safer by fitting Safer Solutions. Penalties will be issued if you are found to breach permit terms.

Vehicles from Outside of the UK
DVS Standards also apply to those travelling into Greater London from outside the UK, and also require a Permit.

How long does my DVS Permit last?
If your HGV is rated 1 or 2 stars then this will expire on the 24th of October 2024 where you will be required to be a DVS 3 star rating.
If you have a 3,4 or 5 star rating these will expire on the 25th October 2030, or if granted later than the enforcement date of the 26th of October 2020, this will be ten years after you received your 3 star + rating.
