Machynlleth friends tackle Everest
Having conquered the Three Peaks Challenge, Andrew Ellis, Peter Kenny and Ian Byrne of Machynlleth tackled one of the most challenging climbs, Base Camp at Mount Everest.
The group challenged 17,500ft to Base Camp, followed by a Final Climb to Kala Patthar (Black Rock) at 18,200ft.
The group set had initially set a fundraising target of £2,000 for the British Heart Foundation, This Target has been exceeded by at least 100% which is absolutely fantastic news.
Andrew said: “We decided to do the trek for the British Heart Foundation in memory of Martin Morgan, a player and committee man for the rugby club in Machynlleth, who died of a heart attack out on his bike at the age of 48; and for Mike Evans, known as Mike Darowen, who was chairman of Machynlleth FC for a number of years, who died of a heart attack playing squash.
