Rob Collison of Collison Motoring Services is one of the Bosch Car Service entries in this year’s Bangers for Ben Challenge.

What is Bangers4BEN?

If Bangers4BEN is new to you, the rules are simple; buy a car for £750, pay the entry fee, paint or decal said car, select fancy dress and, having completed the rally, sell it at auction to raise money for BEN.

The rally this year has an ‘Italian Job’ theme and will take in some instantly recognisable locations from the film. Starting in Dover, the route will take you along the stunning Stelvio Pass before heading to the former Fiat factory in Turin for the finish.

Day 1 – Saturday, 11th October 2014, Dover, England – Mulhouse, France – 518 miles

We start our trip at Dover were you will get to meet the teams and see your competition for the best fancy dress. Once on board our ferry you will receive your full event briefing, when we arrive in Calais we head for the AutoRoute and make our way down to Mulhouse for our first overnight stop.

Day 2 – Sunday, 12th October 2014, Mulhouse, France – Como, Italy – 338 miles

This morning we head on the AutoRoute to Switzerland but not for too long as we ditch the AutoRoute for some great driving roads and fabulous scenery later in the journey. We re-group in the town of Davos before we head for Stelvio Pass; voted as one of Top Gears greatest driving roads in the world. Once you’ve conquered the 48 hairpin turns we make our way to the beautiful lake Como for our overnight stay.

Day 3 – Monday, 13th October 2014, Como to Turin, Italy – Mulhouse, France – 401 miles

This morning we head to Turin and on to Lingotto, which was home to the famous Fiat factory with roof top test track featured in the

legendary film ‘The Italian Job’ more of a shopping now though! After lunch we start for home, but not without taking in some more of Switzerland’s amazing roads. Once in France we re-join the AutoRoute which will takes us back to Mulhouse for our last overnight stop.

That night the wait will be over as we award the ‘Best Themed Car’ and ‘Best Fancy Dress’, but don’t worry if you don’t bag one of these, there will still be a couple of awards up for grabs, and these are the ones that really matter – ‘Largest Fundraisers’ and ‘Overall Winner’ the team with the largest profit from the sale of their car.

Day 4 – Tuesday, 14th October 2014, Mulhouse, France – Dover, England – 518 miles

It’s back to Calais today to catch the ferry back to Blighty where we bid our farewells but no tears as the cars will be reunited at the auction for sale
